What it is
The gentlest member of the onion clan, gathered wild in Europe since the Middle Ages, when bunches were hung against evil spells. It offers the allium idea — without the allium consequences.
In the kitchen
Scissors beat the knife: snip it directly over eggs, potatoes or cream, and its purple pompom flowers are edible too.
