What it is
The same species as the drug plant but a different cultivar, bred for fibre and seed and containing almost no THC. France is the largest hemp producer in Europe and has grown it continuously since the age of sail, when it made rope.
In the kitchen
Never cook it — the oil oxidises fast and turns fishy. Scatter it raw over a finished dish.
