What it is
An accidental hybrid of the pomelo and the sweet orange, found growing in Barbados in the eighteenth century. Its name is agricultural rather than poetic: the fruit hangs in tight clusters on the branch, like grapes.
In the kitchen
A pinch of salt on the cut half suppresses the bitterness far better than sugar does — it blocks the receptors directly.
