Potatoes coated in kaolin clay and served as a bowl of pebbles. You are told they are food and you still hesitate, which is the dish.
Why it works
The clay is inert and sets to a dull mineral crust, so the eye reads stone while the tooth goes through into steamed potato — the gap between the two is the whole effect.
